Aaila Cox-Tanaka
MONITORING, EVALUATION & COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR
Aaila Cox-Tanaka is a proud Nimanburr and Yawuru woman who leads culturally grounded co-design processes that centre Aboriginal voices and strengthen outcomes for families and young people across the West Kimberley. Since joining EC-West in 2022, she has played a key role in the development of Ngurra Buru, a community-led initiative supporting street-present young people in Broome at night. Raised across the West Kimberley, Aaila brings deep place-based knowledge, lived experience, and a strong connection to culture into her work. A creative communicator with a background in media and design, she is a passionate youth advocate whose leadership was recognised in 2024 as a finalist for the National Indigenous Times Indigenous Community Leadership Award. -
Marty Sibosado
CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER
Martin (Marty) Sibosado is a Bardi Jawi and Yawuru traditional owner with deep family and cultural ties to the Dampier Peninsula and Broome. With more than 30 years of advocacy for a Kimberley Aboriginal Regional Authority, Marty has played a leading role in advancing Aboriginal self-determination across the region. As Chief Strategy Officer at EC-West, he brings extensive experience in native title, governance, and strategic leadership, and has founded several Broome-based Aboriginal corporations focused on youth training and local media capability. A former Shire Councillor, Marty currently serves on multiple boards and acts as an advisor to the WA Government and corporate sector. -
Erina Tanaka
CORPORATE SERVICES MANAGER
Erina comes from a small town of Wakayama, Japan. At the mere age of 18 months, relocated to Broome with her parents during the pearling days when her father was a hard hat diver.She has three children of Nimanburr and Yawuru decent and has been part of the Broome and Dampier Peninsula communities alongside her partner for 21 years.
For the last 19 years, Erina has been part of the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services with extensive experience in finance, HR and administration.
Erina has now come on board with EC-West as the Corporate Services Manager and brings along her passion to extend her knowledge to our upcoming young Aboriginal leaders.
