Joint Decision Making

EC-West hears the call of community members and is passionate about collectively achieving better coordination and alignment of services. Together we can maximise benefits, avoid duplication and have a well-integrated approach for programs delivered across the West Kimberley.

The Joint Decision Making (JDM) framework has been co-designed by Directors, community members and Government. It provides a formal voice from Aboriginal people to Government about place based decisions including; choosing the types of services that deliver programs, funding allocation, and new investment opportunities.

The Empowered Communities vision for structural reform is supported by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and we have committed to a collaborative process for reviewing funded activities, with a methodology of shared learning and reflective practice to ensure adaptive improvements are identified and implemented after each JDM round. There are two JDM rounds each calendar year. The JDM framework is a strong model of shared decision making with the aim of achieving greater alignment between government investment and community need voiced by Aboriginal people and Aboriginal organisations in the West Kimberley.

If you are an Aboriginal community member living in the West Kimberley and would like to participate in a JDM panel meeting in your location we want to hear from you!
