The Role of LMCs

Local Management Committees (LMCs) play a pivotal role within EC-West, serving as critical place-based advocates for the community and advisors to the EC-West Board of Directors. Composed of representatives from Aboriginal organisations who have signed on to EC-West as a member, LMCs serve as place-based forums for engagement, local initiative planning, and developing recommendations for the Board of Director’s consideration. In essence, LMCs are the heartbeat of EC-West's community-driven approach to empowerment and development in the West Kimberley region.

LMCs help to bridge the gap between policy formulation and project selection at the organisational level and placed based implementation on the ground. This not only enhances the effectiveness of EC-West's initiatives but also fosters a sense of collective ownership and responsibility to achieve shared goals and objectives.

LMCs are integral to EC-West's community-driven approach to empowerment and development in the West Kimberley region.
